A Spring Afternoon At Our Story Bistro & Tea Room

Today, I wanted to share with you about one of the nicest meals I’ve ever had in Noida after a really long time. The latest offering in Sector 18 Noida is “Our Story Bistro and Tea Room”. Located next to Karim’s, this cutely decorated cafe is spread over two floors, and is perfect for a relaxed afternoon.

I went there on a Sunday, in the late afternoon. I was highly impressed with the ambience and the cafe decor. It is really one of a kind. Simple yet quaintly furnished, its light and airy and just the place to unwind with your girl friends.

I went there with one of my friends and since it was Navratras going on, so we decided on eating vegetarian. For starters, we ordered for Half Dozen Cottage Cheese Satay {INR 275}, which is a flavourful Thai preparation with 6 pieces of paneer satay’s served with peanut sauce. The paneer was beautifully soft and was very nicely cooked. I loved the mushroom sauce so much that I requested the staff to provide me with another serving of it.

The menu offers a huge variety of soft drinks, shakes, chai, coffee’s and other beverages. We ordered for one Passion Fruit Iced Tea and a Lychee Martini. The Lychee Martini was a bit too sweet for my taste, but refreshing nonetheless. It came in a small, matka like glass. An increase in the quantity of the beverage would make it absolutely worth it.

Also, at first I was apprehensive that there is a common washroom for both men and women, but it was among the most well-decorated washrooms ever visited by me- Spacious, covered with tiles in light blue, everything was in its place and hygienic. Potted plants and aromatics definitely got my thumbs up!

They even have games like Chess, Cross & Circle, Scrabble and various other board games, making the cafe perfect for when you want to laze around on hot, sunny afternoons. The second floor has a separate section, which has cozy jhoolas, decorated with flowers; perfect for reading a book with a cuppa.

They have a small library on the first floor as well!

Moving onto one plate meals, the Manager suggested the Bunny Chao {INR 225}, which was the star of all. It is said to be Bistro’s signature dish, inspired by an African delicacy, this is a gravy, a modern version of pao bhaji, filled inside a toasted loaf of bread. You slice the bread as you start eating it. The tomato dip and mint sauce were the perfect accompaniments to the dish.

To our choice, we ordered their BBQ Cottage Cheese Sizzler {INR 345}. This comes with a couple of pieces of roasted paneer and sauté vegetables which is served along with butter rice and a sauce. The portion size was average but the taste was amazing.

Noida doesn’t have as many great restaurants as Delhi or Gurgaon, so it feels really good to discover a great place that one can bank upon to provide good food, service and ambience. It was good as sneaking out for an afternoon siesta on a Sunday.
