When I bought the Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup, almost everyone requested for a review. I have ever tried and it’s the I’ve been testing out for some weeks now, and I must say it’s a true classic.
Its claimed to stay in place, transfer free, mattify-ing, oil and shine free foundation that leaves your skin looking flawless. With the liquid foundation claiming to last for 15 hours and the powder claiming to last for 10, my expectations of Estee Lauder have a lot to live up to.
The foundation comes in a heavy sturdy frosted glass bottle with a golden screw on cap. The bottle feels heavy and luxurious though you need to be careful with it since its glass because glass bottles are practically less travel friendly. I like the classic, hefty look and feel but I really wish it came with a pump or a dispenser of some kind! You need to pour out the foundation and more often than not, I end up pouring out too much when I’m in a hurry.
Its a liquid foundation and its neither too runny nor too thick. I was actually expecting a more viscous consistency but its fairly light considering the high coverage it gives. Since Im a dry skin, a good moisturiser is an absolute must or the foundation can give a dry appearance to the skin.
You can use a stipple brush or normal brush or any tool you want to apply this foundation, but I find I get the best results when I use my fingers. It’s best if you do one area of your face at a time because the foundation sets very quickly.
Its a medium coverage foundation and it covers up imperfections really well. It feels light on the skin and yet gives a very flawless, perfected look. It sets to a natural looking matte finish and just makes the skin look very even yet clean and natural. If you’re looking for a foundation that hides all your imperfections and gives you flawless looking skin then this is the foundation for you.
Estee Lauder Double Wear is designed to stay in place all day and long lasting it certainly is. Double Wear has great staying power and it doesn’t transfer onto my clothes. The foundation doesn’t melt down with sweat and humidity and stays well for over 8 hours on my skin. It barely transfers or smudges and doesn’t change colour as it wears through the day. Also, It doesn’t dry out my skin after a few hours like several other long wearing foundations do.
It gives the skin a very perfected look in pictures and hence, it’s a great option of foundation for bridal makeup and in general, for special occasions!
The shade range is quite good (the global website lists 30 shades) and there is an excellent variety for warmer skin tones. The shades follow the ranges of C (for cool undertones), N (for neutral undertones) and W (for warm undertones). I have yellow undertones but I found 4N2 Spiced Sand an excellent match for my skin.
It retails for Rs. 3,000/- for a product size of 30ml (Available at all Estee Lauder counters in India).
Its definitely one of the best foundations I’ve tried so far and I’d highly recommend this to anyone looking for a medium-high coverage, long wearing foundation which has a terrific matte finish that doesn’t move.
