If there’s a brand that probably has the best of everything, then it’s Mac. With this in mind, we recently tried the MAC Pro Conceal and Correct Palette. Read our full review below!
As always, talking about the packaging first – it’s a compact and sturdy black palette, the MAC Pro Conceal and Correct Palette comes with four concealers and two corrector shades in a medium to dark color wave. The palettes come in Dark, Light, Medium and Medium Deep ranges. I have picked the variant “Medium Deep” and it works for me perfectly. It consists of NC 40, NW 40, NC 42, NW 43, Rich Yellow and Burnt Coral shades. I believe “Medium” and “Medium Deep” would cover most of the Indian skin tones.
Price- Rs. 3,350
This palette is amazing for a person who is into color correcting, highlighting and contouring. This is also useful for a person whose foundation and concealer shades change quite often.
The MAC Pro Conceal and Correct Palette provides medium to high coverage and is totally buildable. The colors have great texture and coverage and last for 8 hours plus. The concealers have an extremely creamy texture enables smooth application. However, applying the product is a little tricky. It has to be blended properly, neither too less nor too much. Too much blending will not cover the problem area properly and too less blending will crease in fine line. I had to try a couple of times to perfect using this product. The feel is not lightweight; however, it’s not something that would feel heavy either. Another important point before going further into the review – if you want to work with the correctors and concealers in this palette, you gotta invest in a good quality beauty blender or makeup brushes.
How To Use-
The four concealer shades that are provided can be used as concealer as well as cream foundation. The NC (Neutral Cool) shades can be used for yellow skin tones (Indian skin tone) and the NW (Neutral Warm) can be used for other skin tones. The shades can also be mixed together for a custom skin color.
The concealer will help cover under eye dark circles. In cases of severe dark circles, an orange corrector is provided in the shade Burnt Coral. This is a beautiful dull orange kind of shade. Orange will help cancel darkness under the eyes. Then one can go over the corrected area with a concealer to balance out the orange.
The yellow corrector can be used to create the effect of healthy glowing skin. Take the yellow corrector and mix with the lightest shade in the palette (highlighting shade) and apply to all the areas on the face where one would normally highlight such as tops of cheekbones, bridge of the nose, cupid’s bow, chin and centre of the forehead and with the help of a blending or brush or sponge blend till it is seamless.
The yellow and orange correctors can also be mixed with the concealer shades to create custom shades.
The darkest skin tone color in the palette can be used for cream contouring. Apply the shade to all the areas of the face where one would normally contour such as hollows of the cheekbones, temple and forehead, sides of the nose and jawline. Then with the help of a blending brush or sponge blend blend blend!
You have to take it off using a waterproof makeup remover at night. I would highly recommend this product. Yes though I would ask you to pick up good blending brushes, good setting powder, good makeup sponges just before you pick the palette. 😛
Until next time,
